The developers behind the critically acclaimed Game Boy classic are bringing the original game to the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 4, Deep Silver confirmed on Twitter on Thursday.
Titled “Game Boy: Classic” and published by Deep Silver, the game will run at 60 frames per second on the latest hardware.
The game will be available as an exclusive on Xbox One and PlayStation Plus on January 11.
The developer also announced that the game’s first expansion pack, “The Game Boy World Tour,” will be released in the coming weeks.
The Game Boys original version will be on display at the Game Boy Museum in Tokyo, which was established in 2014.
The museum will host a retrospective event on January 19, 2017, and will feature “game play” from the Game Boys’ first appearance at Tokyo Game Show in 1990.
The Museum’s exhibits include an original Game Boy design, a prototype prototype for the original Gameboy, and a replica of the original NES controller, as well as a special edition Game Boy Classic case.
