Kevin Spaceys son has filed a $50 million lawsuit against his father, actor Kevin Spaceies, accusing him of making false statements about the actor in the wake of Spacey’s public feud with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Spacey, who was on the HBO show Duck Dynasty, said in a statement on Wednesday that his father’s comments about him had nothing to do with the allegations.
“My father and I had a great relationship with him, and we both want to make this right,” Spacey said in the statement.
“He and I have had a wonderful relationship over the years and will do everything in our power to make it work for the better.
I know he is going to fight this tooth and nail.”
Spacey and his wife, Carole Radziwill, have been embroiled in a bitter public spat since the House speaker and her husband accused Spacey of sexual harassment in September 2017.
The actor denied the allegations, and Spacey responded by suing Radziwon for $50,000.
“I do not want to go to court to settle this case, and I would rather settle with my son,” Spaceys spokesman Matt Rinaldi told The Associated Press on Thursday.
“We are working through this and will have the opportunity to settle.”
The lawsuit was filed late Wednesday in the Los Feliz Superior Court in Los Angeles, a district where Spacey is from and where Radziwin lives with her husband, John Radziwills.
Spaceys mother, Mary Jane Spacey has said in recent weeks that she was unaware of the lawsuit.
The couple has a child together, two-year-old Noah.
“The lawsuit was a complete surprise to me,” Radziwialls son, Scott, told the AP.
“It doesn’t make sense to me.”
The Radziwaites have three children, two of whom are grown and one is in the first grade.
Scott Spacey was born in March.
